Oecon. from The University of Iceland in 1971.  Coursein Airline Management (Advance Study Program in Air Transportation) in The Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston in 1980.  

Work: Teacher in Economics and Management in the Icelandic Commercial College.  Vice President Finance at The Union of Icelandic Fish Producers 1971 to 1973. Managing Director Hafskip (shipping company) 1973 to 1975.  Managing Director Eagle Air (Icelandic Charter Airline) 1976 to 1981.  Vice President Esso Oil company in Iceland 1981 to 1983.  Man. Dir. for The Confederation of Icelandic Employers (Icelandic CBI) 1983 to 1986.  Man. Dir. Union of Icelandic Fish Producers 1986 to 1994.  Established Capital Ltd. 1994. Chairman of the Board of Nord Morue (fish processing plant in France) 1991 to 1994.  Chairman of the Board of Haraldur Bodvarsson Ltd (Iceland’s third largest fishing and fish processing company) 1991 to 1995. Vice Chairman of the Board of FBA (Icelandic Investment Bank, 1997-2000. Chairman of the Board of FBA until merged with Íslandsbanki. On the Board of International Aircraft Investors, Los Angeles from 1998 to 2001, on the Board of Venada Ltd., Las Vegas from 1999-2001 and Chairman of the Board of the British/Icelandic Chamber of Commerce 1999-2001. Chairman of Búnadarbanki Íslands (the Agricultural Bank of Iceland) from 2001 to 2003. Chairman of Eimskipafélag Íslands hf and associated companies Brim ehf, Burdarás ehf and Eimskip ehf from 2003 to 2004.  Chairmanof the Board of Capital associated companies, Icecon, Icelandic Aircraft Management and Polar Ltd. Chairman of the Board of the Icelandic Fisheries Development Fund 1993-2006. On the board of Marinvest, TT Investments and Fletir Investment Company. 

Social activities:  Various activities on different students bodies during studies in College and University.  Chairman of the Board of the Icelandic Export Council from 1986 to 1994.  Chairman of the Board of the Icelandic Fisheries Committee (Cooperation of the whole fishing industry in Iceland) 1989 to 1993.  Chairman of the Board French-Icelandic Trade Council 1990 to 1993. Chairman of the Board of the Coalition of Fisheries Nations 1992 to 1993.  Chairman of a task force appointed by the Government of Iceland to reconstruct the Icelandic Fishing Industry 1992 to 1994.  Chairman of the Board of the Confederation of Icelandic Employers 1992 to 1995. On the Board of the University of Akureyri from July 1999-2001.

Writing:  Articles in newspapers and magazines on the Icelandic Fishing Industry, Iceland’s position in international economic cooperation and other economic and social issues. 

Editor:  TheIcelandic Student Magazine 1968 and Eimreidin (Magazine on social issues) 1972 to 1975.   

Awarded the Order of the Icelandic Falcon in 1992 by the President of Iceland.
